Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Efficacy of the ilioinguinal and iliohypogastric block in the treatment of the postoperative pain of inguinal herniorrhaphy].
The ileoinguinal-ileohypogastric block (IHB) improves pain control in inguinal hernioplasty. ⋯ IHB decreases pain, delaying the need for a first dose of analgesic and improving patient comfort. Its use is therefore recommended for relief of postoperative pain.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Comparative study of recovery from general anesthesia with halothane or sevoflurane in pediatrics].
To assess the clinical signs of awakening and recovery from anesthesia with sevoflurane and 60% nitrous oxide in comparison with halothane and nitrous oxide administered to children. ⋯ Awakening and recovery are significantly faster with sevoflurane than with halothane, while the incidence of side effects are similar with the 2 agents.

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Comparison of the double burst stimulus with the train-of-four stimuli in monitoring muscle relaxation during anesthesia].
To compare double burst stimulus (DBS) and the train-of-four stimuli (TOF) for monitoring neuromuscular blockade during anesthesia in terms of muscle relaxation requirements, dose of anticholinesterase agents and the possibility of postanesthetic residual relaxation. ⋯ The use of DBS increased the vecuronium dose required during anesthesia and risk in those patients who arrived at the PARU with residual muscle block (T4/T1r < 70%).

Randomized Controlled Trial Clinical Trial[Antiemetic prophylaxis after laparoscopic cholecystectomy: comparative study of dehydrobenzperidol, metoclopramide, ondansetron and placebo].
To compare the efficacy of ondansetron to that of metoclopramide, dehydrobenzperidol and placebo for the prevention of postoperative nausea and vomiting (PONV) after laparoscopic cholecystectomy in a double-blind random study. ⋯ Ondansetron provides safe, effective prophylaxis for PONV after laparoscopic cholecystectomy, but it is not superior to the antiemetic drugs usually used. Its use may be justified in patients in whom dehydrobenzperidol or metoclopramide are contraindicated.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study Clinical Trial[Cardio-circulatory response to laryngoscopy. Comparative study between Macintosh and McCoy laryngoscopes].
To assess the cardiocirculatory repercussions of laryngoscopy performed with the Macintosh or McCoy laryngoscopes, we studied 20 patients randomly divided into 2 groups of 10 to undergo laryngoscopy with one or the other of the aforementioned instruments. All patients were in good health overall (ASA I or II) and presented no criteria for difficult intubation (Mallampati I or II, distance between the thyroid and the menton greater than 7 cm and maximum distance between the incisors greater than 3.5 cm). The McCoy laryngoscope was associated with significantly lower systolic arterial pressure and heart rate.
