Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative StudyIncidence of intraneural needle insertion in ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block: a comparison between the out-of-plane versus the in-plane approaches.
The optimal method of ultrasound-guided femoral nerve block (in-plane vs. out-of-plane) has not been established. We tested the hypothesis that the incidence of needle-nerve contact may be higher with out-of-plane than with in-plane needle insertion. ⋯ Under the conditions of our study, needle-nerve contact during femoral nerve block occurs frequently with the out-of-plane approach. An in-plane approach results in an equally effective femoral block and less incidence of needle-nerve contact.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Ultrasound-guided axillary block versus ultrasound-guided infraclavicular block for upper extremity surgery].
Most upper limb regional anaesthesia techniques are successful, and differences in efficacy should dictate the choice of technique. ⋯ We can conclude that compared to ultrasound-guided AB, ultrasound-guided IB provides a similar efficacy, a shorter onset time and longer lasting analgesia.

Randomized Controlled Trial[Contribution to post-caesarean analgesia of ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block].
The aim of this study was to evaluate the contribution made by ultrasound-guided transversus abdominis plane block (TAP) to the quality of the analgesia with intrathecal opioids obtained in patients undergoing elective caesarean delivery. ⋯ Ultrasound (US)-guided TAP block improves spinal opioid analgesia, with a decrease in VAS scores in the first 24h, and reduces opioid requirement and secondary effects after caesarean delivery.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison between VAMA(®) and Berman(®) cannulas for fibroscopic orotracheal intubation in anaesthetised patients].
In fibroscopic intubation, the fact of achieving a direct view in real time does not guarantee the correct advance of the endotracheal tube (ET) to its intratracheal position. The use of oral cannulas helps in achieving a free airway in order to pass the fibroscope and the ET. This study compares the VAMA(®) (V) and Berman(®) (B) cannulas as regards the time required for the intubation, fibroscopic view, and the ease in positioning the ET. ⋯ The VAMA(®) cannula is an effective alternative to the classic cannulas for fibreoptic assisted intubation. Furthermore, the novel design provides advantages for the correct orientation of the fiberscope and the withdrawal of the cannula after intubation.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Comparative Study[Clinical and pharmacological study of the efficacy of carbetocin in elective caesareans compared to low and usual doses of oxytocin].
To evaluate uterine contractility, bleeding, haemodynamic performance, and side effects of different doses of oxytocin after delivery under spinal anaesthesia in caesarean section without prior labour in childbirth. We also perform a pharmacoeconomic evaluation. ⋯ With these results, we cannot recommend the routine use of carbetocin in caesarean sections, because it is accompanied by an increased incidence of side effects without any improvement in the prevention of obstetric haemorrhage. Finally, it is economically more expensive than the use of low doses of oxytocin, which may be the trend that should be considered in the future, due to the clinical outcomes, and its lower cost.
