Observational StudyEvaluation of immature granulocyte percentage and count in pediatric nephrotic syndrome.
The importance of immature granulocytes (IGs) in most infectious and inflammatory diseases has been highlighted. This study aimed to determine the clinical usability and importance of changes in the peripheral complete blood count profile, including IG percentage (IG%) and IG count (IG#), during the relapse and remission phases in pediatric nephrotic syndrome (NS) patients. ⋯ It is probable that a high level of immature granulocyte count has a positive correlation for NS relapse in pediatric patients. The IG % and IG# can be used together as biomarkers of inflammation in pediatric NS relapse.

Association between variants in TCF7L2, CTRB1/2, and GLP-1R genes and response to therapy with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists.
The factors determining the response to treatment with glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1- RAs) have not been clarified. The present study investigated the association between polymorphisms in TCF7L2, CTRB1/2, and GLP-1 R genes and response to GLP-1 RAs regarding glycemic control and weight loss among Greek patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). ⋯ There is no evidence suggesting a role for the variants studied in response to GLP-1 RA therapy in people with T2DM. However, specific demographic and clinical factors may be related to a better response to treatment with these agents.

Over-testing andover-treatment are common in children with croup at pediatric emergencydepartments (PED). The objective of the study was to improve care for childrenwith croup. ⋯ With this QI intervention, decreases in the rate of administration of NE to mild croup cases, antibioticprescription, X-ray, laboratory blood and respiratory PCR panel tests in allcroup cases were achieved without an increase in revisits. However, unnecessaryNE, antibiotic, and X-ray rates are still high.

Understanding the role of the primary care physician in the management of patients with Crohn's perianal fistulas.
To understand the role of primary care physicians (PCPs) in the recognition, diagnosis, and management of Crohn's perianal fistulas (CPF) and their referral patterns and treatment expectations. ⋯ PCPs want more involvement in multidisciplinary management of patients with CPF. Continuing education providing PCPs with up-to-date information on diagnostic modalities, treatment options, early diagnosis, the role of PCPs within a multidisciplinary team, and effective initial CPF care is required.
