Smoking is one of the most relevant public health problems worldwide and one of the main causes of preventable premature death. In-hospital treatment and subsequent follow-up are effective in terms of cessation. ⋯ The percentage of smokers in this group of patients is lower than that reported in the national health survey. The high proportion of respondent that are attempted to quit and failed, justifies the availability of structured quitting programs at the hospital and follow-up strategies after discharge.

[Frequency of diabetic retinopathy and associated factors in Puerto Montt, Chile].
Diabetic retinopathy (DR) is an important cause of decreased visual acuity, whose prevalence has increased between 1990 and 2020. In Chile the prevalence of diabetic retinopathy was estimated at 24.8%. ⋯ DR was associated with worse metabolic parameters and the presence of neuropathy in this case control study.

[Artificial intelligence fuzzy system for the design of confinements during quarantines].
Different modalities of quarantines were one of the main measures implemented worldwide to avoid the spread of SARS-CoV2 virus. ⋯ Using an artificial intelligence system could improve decision-making transparency, emergency governance, and risk communication to the population.

[Frequency of glomerular diseases in an analysis of 550 kidney biopsies].
The frequency of glomerular diseases is dynamic and varies according to geographic area. ⋯ The most common primary glomerulopathies were membranous nephropathy and IgA nephropathy. Among the secondary glomerulopathies lupus nephropathy and pauci-immune glomerulonephritis were the most common. Compared to international registries, we observed a high proportion of membranous nephropathy and pauci-immune glomerulonephritis.

[Intercultural competences achieved by health sciences students during the clinical practice].
During their clinical practice, health Sciences students get acquainted with the cultural diversity of patients and learn to deal with this reality in a model of social learning. ⋯ The students were able to update the Confrontation, Resistance, Openness, Understanding and Intercultural Inclusion Model. The features of those participants who achieve the highest levels of intercultural competences should be explored and used for the training process.
