Long term behavior of pedicled vascularized fibular grafts in reconstruction of middle and distal tibia after resection of malignant bone tumors.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the long term behavior of pedicled vascualrized fibula graft in reconstruction of middle and distal tibia defects following malignant tumor resection with particular emphasis on success in limb salvage and the specific late related complications. ⋯ Long term follow-up of pedicled vascularized fibula in reconstruction of bony defects of the middle or distal tibia after bone tumor resection showed that it is a useful tool in the limb salvage procedure. It is a short procedure, inexpensive, with low rate of late complications. It has a good outcome regarding the union, hypertrophy and the functional outcome.

Comparison of locking and conventional screws for maintenance of tibial plateau positioning and biomechanical stability after locking tibial plateau leveling osteotomy plate fixation.
To compare locking screws with conventional screws inserted in the tibial plateau fragment for reduction and stability of the construct after tibial plateau leveling osteotomy (TPLO), using a locking TPLO plate. ⋯ These results suggest that conventional screws and careful contouring of the TPLO plate can provide comparable mechanical stability to fixation with locking screws in the tibial plateau under load-sharing conditions, but potentially at the expense of osteotomy reduction.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of compaction drilling during ACL reconstruction with hamstrings on postoperative tunnel widening.
This study investigates whether the amount of tibial and femoral bone tunnel enlargement following anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction with hamstrings can be reduced by compaction bone tunnel drilling. ⋯ Level 4.

Tibial tubercle osteotomy (TTO) is a recognized technique for improving exposure when performing total knee arthroplasty surgery. Forty-two patients were reviewed at a mean of 8 years after TTO. Preoperatively, mean extension was 8 degrees +/- 14 degrees , mean flexion 74 degrees +/- 30 degrees , and Knee Society score 73 +/- 37. ⋯ Twenty-five percent of patients experienced no extensor lag, and 66% of extensor lags had resolved within 6 months. Mean time for osteotomy union was 14 weeks. In this series, TTO performed to enhance surgical exposure did not adversely affect the outcome after total knee arthroplasty but resulted in serious complications in 5% of patients.

A full-length standing radiograph of the entire lower extremity is the standard imaging modality for assessing lower limb alignment. However, the effect of an overlying circular external fixator on the radiographic alignment of the lower extremity is not well documented. ⋯ Diagnostic level II.
