Randomized Controlled TrialTranexamic acid is beneficial for blood management of high tibial osteotomy: a randomized controlled study.
The purpose of this study was to investigate whether TXA can effectively reduce blood loss after HTO and related complications and to evaluate its safety. ⋯ Intravenous TXA can effectively and safely reduce blood loss and bleeding-related complications after HTO and was beneficial for the blood management of HTO.

Was femoral nerve block effective for pain control of medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy?: A single blinded randomized controlled study.
Medial compartment femoro-tibial osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease and opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) is the common surgical procedure carried out for these patients. While most researchers are focusing on the surgical techniques during operation, the aim of this study is to evaluate the pain control effect of femoral nerve block (FNB) for OWHTO patients. ⋯ This RCT study shows that FNB in patients undergoing OWHTO for unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee could result in significant reduction in VAS scores at 12 hours postoperatively.Research registry, Researchregistry4792. Mechanical evaluation of tibial fixation of the hamstring tendon in anterior cruciate ligament double-bundle reconstruction with and without interference screws.
The objective of this study was to compare two postero-lateral bundle (PLB) tibial fixation techniques for the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament with double bundle: a technique without the use of an interference screw, preserving the native tibial insertion of the tendons of the gracilis and semitendineous muscles, and a technique with the use of an interference screw and without preserving the insertion of the tendons. ⋯ The use of the native insertion of the semitendineous and gracilis tendons, without an additional fixation device, presented mechanical superiority over their fixation with interference screws.

To compare the perioperative effects and pharmacoeconomics of peripheral nerve blocks (PNBs) versus fentanyl target-controlled infusion (fTCI) in dogs undergoing tibial plateau levelling osteotomy (TPLO). ⋯ Compared with group fTCI, incidence of bradycardia, nociceptive response to surgery, postoperative pain scores, cumulative methadone requirement were lower, and food intake was greater in group PNB, with an economic advantage in dogs weighing >15 kg.

Randomized Controlled TrialIs tranexamic acid safe and reliable during tibial intramedullary nailing?
The aim of this study was to determine if the use of tranexamic acid (TXA) during intramedullary reaming treatment for tibial diaphyseal fractures was safe, reduced blood loss, or affected cost effectiveness. ⋯ The application of intravenous TXA during the preoperative period in the treatment of tibial fractures with intramedullary nailing reduced the bleeding seen in the postoperative period. It did not lead to intravascular thrombosis in the postoperative period, and had no adverse effect on bone healing.
