Chondrosarcoma is the second most common primary bone malignancy with the highest incidence in middle-aged and elderly people, where distant metastasis (DM) still leads to poor prognosis. The purpose of this study was to construct a nomogram for studying the diagnosis of DM in middle-aged and elderly patients with chondrosarcoma. Data on chondrosarcoma patients aged ≥ 40 years diagnosed from 2004 to 2015 were extracted from the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results (SEER) database. ⋯ The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (AUC) was 0.857, 0.820, and 0.859 in the training set, internal validation set, and external validation set, respectively. The results of the calibration curve and decision curve analysis also confirmed that the established nomogram could accurately predict DM in middle-aged and elderly patients with chondrosarcoma. Married, histological type of dedifferentiated chondrosarcoma, high-grade tumor, T3 stage, and N1 stage are independent risk factors for DM in middle-aged and elderly chondrosarcoma patients, and clinicians should see more attention.

China has become an emerging destination for international migration, especially in some Association of South East Asian Nations countries, but the situation of migrants seeking medical care in China remains unclear. A retrospective cross-sectional study was conducted in a hospital in Chongzuo, which provides medical services for foreigners, to investigate the situation of Vietnamese people seeking health care in Guangxi, China. Vietnamese patients who visited the hospital between 2018 and 2020 were included in the study. ⋯ Middle-aged Vietnamese females in Guangxi, China, may have much greater healthcare needs. Their main medical demand is for obstetric services. Measurements should be taken to improve the health services targeting Vietnamese female, but the legitimacy of Vietnamese in Guangxi is a major prerequisite for them to access more and better healthcare services.

Association between Physical Activity in Rural Life and Sarcopenia in Community-Dwelling Middle-Aged and Older Japanese Adults: A Cross-Sectional Study.
Physical activity is crucial to prevent sarcopenia, but there is scant data on the link between sarcopenia and physical activity in rural communities. Therefore, this study investigated associations of farming activity and snow removal with sarcopenia in a middle-aged and older population in rural Japan. This cross-sectional study enrolled 3,056 residents aged ≥ 40 years (49.2% men; mean age, 64.2 years) in Yuzawa, Japan. ⋯ Compared with participants who did not engage in farming activity or snow removal, participants who engaged in both had a significantly lower adjusted odds ratio of sarcopenia [0.63 (95% CI 0.47-0.86)]. Participants who engaged in snow removal and those who engaged in both farming activity and snow removal showed inverse associations with sarcopenia. Our findings further support the importance of physical activity in preventing or mitigating sarcopenia in rural communities.

To enhance patient-centred care of people with hip pain, we need a comprehensive understanding of peoples' beliefs about their hip pain. This systematic review explored the beliefs and expectations of middle-aged and older adults about chronic hip pain and its care across different healthcare settings and contexts. This review was a synthesis of qualitative studies using a framework synthesis approach. ⋯ People coped with their hip pain by avoiding or modifying activity. People were not educated about treatments or used treatments that failed to improve their hip pain. People believed that surgery for their hip was inevitable.

This study assessed oral health conditions and associated factors (including sociodemographic characteristics and self-reported oral health-related behaviors) among Chinese adolescents. This cross-sectional study enrolled 3840 adolescents aged 12 to 15 years from 12 middle schools in Foshan, Southeast China, in 2016, using multistage, stratified cluster sampling. Participants underwent a clinical oral examination and completed a questionnaire. ⋯ Older age, female, administrative region, brushing less than twice daily, and flossing less than once daily significantly increased periodontal risk. Despite the overall low prevalence of adverse dental conditions among adolescents in Foshan, their oral hygiene habits were undeveloped. Thus, their identified risk factors need close monitoring, and families, schools, communities, and the government should jointly promote adolescents' oral health.
