Sufentanil is one of the opioids currently used to induce general anesthesia, and cough is one of the most common complications. Many drugs have been used to prevent sufentanil-induced cough (SIC), and dezocine is one of them. Dezocine is an analgesic, acting as partial antagonist of κ-receptors and agonist of μ-receptors. The purpose of our meta-analysis is to evaluate the efficacy of dezocine on SIC. ⋯ This meta-analysis showed that dezocine significantly reduced the incidence and severity of SIC in the induction of general anesthesia, but had no significant effect on vital signs. More high-quality RCTs are needed to complement existing conclusions.

Meta AnalysisEffect of General and Non-general Anesthesia on Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction.
ABATRACT Controversy exists in the effect of general anesthesia and non-general anesthesia on postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). The authors aimed to perform this systematic review to comprehensively assess the effect of general anesthesia or non-general anesthesia on POCD. Relative studies from the online literature database were retrieved. ⋯ In conclusion, when compared with the non-general anesthesia, general anesthesia increases the incidence of POCD in patients within three days after surgery, but makes no difference after seven days. It suggests that early intervention should be conducted on patients undergoing general anesthesia. Key Words: General anesthesia, Postoperative cognitive dysfunction, Meta-analysis.

Review Meta AnalysisTracheal intubation in patients at risk for cervical spinal cord injury: a systematic review.
Tracheal intubation in patients at risk for secondary spinal cord injury is potentially difficult and risky. ⋯ Videolaryngoscopy and fiberoptic-assisted techniques might be associated with higher first-attempt failure rate over controls. However, low to very low certainty of evidence does not allow firm conclusions on the best tracheal intubation in patients at risk for cervical spinal cord injury.

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women, and more than half of breast surgery patients experience severe acute postoperative pain. This meta-analysis is designed to examine the clinical analgesic efficacy of Pecs block in patients undergoing breast cancer surgery. ⋯ Adding Pecs block to GA procedure results in lower pain scores, less opioid consumption and longer time to first analgesic request in patients undergoing breast cancer surgery compared to GA procedure alone.

Comparison of spinal anesthesia and general anesthesia in inguinal hernia repair in adult: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Inguinal hernia repair is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures. To date, there is no consensus on which anesthesia should be used. The objective of this meta-analysis was to assess the efficacy of spinal anesthesia (SA) vs. general anesthesia (GA) in inguinal hernia repair in adults. ⋯ SA can be another good choice for pain relief no matter in open or laparoscopic hernia repairs, but it can't be confirmed that SA is better than GA.
