Review Meta Analysis
A literature review of a meta-analysis of BRAF mutations in non-small cell lung cancer.
The research on the relationship between the Braf Proto-oncogene (BRAF) mutation and lung cancer has generated conflicting findings. Nevertheless, there is an argument suggesting that assessing the BRAF status could offer benefits in terms of managing and prognosing individuals with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). To present a comprehensive overview of this subject, we undertook an up-to-date meta-analysis of pertinent publications. ⋯ Our meta-analysis revealed a significant correlation between BRAF mutations and NSCLC. Moreover, we observed a higher incidence of BRAF lung mutations in females compared to males. Additionally, the BRAFV600E mutation was found to be more prevalent among female patients and nonsmokers.

The hemorrhage risk of unruptured and untreated cerebral arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) has been shown to be higher for female patients than male patients in their child bearing ages. Although it has been neurosurgical practice to advise female patients in their childbearing ages to postpone pregnancy until proven AVM obliteration, there is no literature consensus regarding this potential hemorrhage risk increase. ⋯ The quantified annual risk for AVM hemorrhage during pregnancy is about 3 times higher than that of male patients at corresponding age. This provides an important basis for advising female patients with patent AVMs about the increased risk for hemorrhage that a pregnancy would entail.

Review Case Reports
Perianal rhabdomyosarcoma in an adult: A case report and review of the literature.
Perianal/perineal rhabdomyosarcomas (PRMS) is rare, and the outcome is poor. A 29-year-old female presented with perineal rhabdomyosarcomas revealed metastases to inguinal lymph nodes on the bilateral side. Disease progression was discovered when the patient got adjuvant epirubicin, ifosfamide, and bevacizumab for 2 cycles. ⋯ The surgical resection was performed. The patient received neoadjuvant chemotherapy before surgery and was weak after surgery, so he did not receive chemoradiotherapy. The patient succumbed after 11 months postoperatively due to widespread intraabdominal metastasis.

Multicenter Study
Gender Differences in Procedural Clinical Complications and Outcomes of Intracranial Aneurysms: Analysis of the Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry.
Some studies have shown that female patients had a poorer prognosis after endovascular treatment for ruptured intracranial aneurysm than male patients. However, data have been sparse regarding differences in the periprocedural and perioperative complication rate with ruptured and unruptured intracranial aneurysms. ⋯ This large multicenter registry of patients undergoing intracranial aneurysm treatment found that female patients were not at increased risk of perioperative complications.
