Gender Differences in Procedural Clinical Complications and Outcomes of Intracranial Aneurysms: Analysis of the Stroke Thrombectomy and Aneurysm Registry.
Some studies have shown that female patients had a poorer prognosis after endovascular treatment for ruptured intracranial aneurysm than male patients. However, data have been sparse regarding differences in the periprocedural and perioperative complication rate with ruptured and unruptured intracranial aneurysms. ⋯ This large multicenter registry of patients undergoing intracranial aneurysm treatment found that female patients were not at increased risk of perioperative complications.

Operator gender differences in major mechanical complications after central line insertions: a subgroup analysis of a prospective multicentre cohort study.
A previous study on mechanical complications after central venous catheterisation demonstrated differences in complication rates between male and female operators. The objective of this subgroup analysis was to further investigate these differences. The hypothesis was that differences in distribution of predefined variables between operator genders could be identified. ⋯ The hypothesis was confirmed as differences in distribution of predefined variables between operator genders were found. Despite being less experienced, female operators had a lower rate of major mechanical complications. Furthermore, male operator gender was independently associated with a higher risk of major mechanical complications. Future studies are needed to further investigate differences in risk behaviour between male and female operators.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyComplication analysis in acute appendicitis, results from an international multicenter study.
Acute appendicitis (AA) is frequent, its diagnosis is challenging, and the surgical intervention is not risk free. An accurate diagnosis will reduce unnecessary surgeries and associated risks. This study aimed to analyze the rate of appendectomies' postoperative complications. ⋯ Appendectomy may be associated with serious postoperative complications. Complications were associated with older age, Charlson comorbidity index, histopathology, and high Alvarado scores. The definition of accurate diagnostic and therapeutic pathways may improve results. The association between clinical scores and radiology is recommended.

The prevalence and risk factors of functional dyspepsia among adults in low- and middle-income countries: An international cross-sectional study.
Dyspepsia is one of the most common chronic digestive diseases, which is due to underlying organic causes that can be detected, or causes that cannot be detected called functional dyspepsia (FD). There is no epidemiological study to date that measures the prevalence and risk factors of the FD in low- and middle-income countries, so this international cross-sectional study was conducted in 15 low- and middle-income countries from data previously published its protocol NCT05340400. Participants were recruited in the period from 22/April/2022 to 14/June/2022. ⋯ Sudan obtained the highest prevalence 44.3%, then Egypt 41.4%, while the lowest prevalence was in Algeria 25.7%. Moreover, there are many risk factors, including modifiable ones, such as severe stress, chronic fatigue, smoking, abnormal BMI, insufficient or too many hours of sleep, and previous infection with Covid-19, and non-modifiable ones such as advanced age, chronic diseases, and female sex. Highlighting the prevalence and increasing risk factors of FD in low- and middle-income countries should draw the attention of those responsible for health care in these countries and reduce the risk factors.

Sex-Related Differences in Epidemiology, Treatment and Economic Burden of Traumatic Spinal Cord Injury in China (2013-2018).
Retrospective epidemiological study. ⋯ This study suggests that although the main population of TSCI is male, the average ratio of males to females is decreasing. The frequency of TSCI may be increasing faster in females than in males. Therefore, it is necessary to develop sex-specific public prevention measures. In addition, more medical resources should be devoted to improving the ability of hospitals to perform early surgery.
