Endometrial carcinoma is a prevalent form of cancer. In fact, its incidence ranks fourth among European and North American females. Moreover, it is the most common gynecological malignant disease. Laparotomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, total abdominal hysterectomy, etc were common methods adopted in conventional open surgery. Recent developments in laparoscopic surgery (LPS) has made it more effective. The present study aims to compare the outcomes between LPS and a conventional open surgical procedure to treat stage II endometrial carcinoma patients. ⋯ This study will conduct a meta-analysis to compare the clinical efficacy of LPS and conventional open surgery in the treatment of stage II endometrial carcinoma.

Comparative efficacy and safety of complementary and alternative therapies for tubal obstructive infertility: A protocol for network meta-analysis.
Infertility is a kind of global disease. Fallopian tubal obstruction is one of the most important causes of female infertility. Complementary and alternative therapies are effective in treating tubal obstructive infertility, but there is no study on a comprehensive comparison among them. So, the purpose of this paper is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of different complementary and alternative therapies for tubal obstructive infertility. ⋯ INPLASY202110076.

Statins are one of the most prescribed classes of drugs worldwide. Atorvastatin, the most prescribed statin, is currently used to treat conditions such as hypercholesterolaemia and dyslipidaemia. By reducing the level of cholesterol, which is the precursor of the steroidogenesis pathway, atorvastatin may cause a reduction in levels of testosterone and other androgens. Testosterone and other androgens play important roles in biological functions. A potential reduction in androgen levels, caused by atorvastatin might cause negative effects in most settings. In contrast, in the setting of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), reducing excessive levels of androgens with atorvastatin could be beneficial. ⋯ We found no significant difference between atorvastatin and placebo on the levels of total testosterone in males. In females with PCOS, atorvastatin lowered the total testosterone, FAI, androstenedione, and DHEAS. The certainty of evidence ranged from low to very low for both comparisons. More RCTs studying the effect of atorvastatin on testosterone are needed.

Plasminogen activator inhibitor-1 (PAI-1) is considered to be involved in the physiopathological mechanisms of Alzheimer's disease (AD), metabolic syndrome (MetS), and female infertility. Previous studies investigating the association between PAI-14G/5G (rs1799889) gene polymorphism and the risk of AD, MetS, and female infertility have reported inconsistent results. The aim of the present study was to investigate possible associations. ⋯ The present meta-analysis suggested that the PAI-1 4G/5G polymorphism might be associated with the risk of MetS, but no evidence was detected for AD and female infertility.

Known as an endocrine disorder, Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has posed an influence on 6% to 20% reproductive females worldwide. The commonly used pharmaceutical agents currently are Oral Contraceptives (OCs) and insulin-sensitizing agents. However, OCs is not appropriate for females pursuing pregnancy. Furthermore, some of insulin-sensitizing agents are found to be related to a high incidence of gastrointestinal adverse effects. In this regard, the effectiveness of Chinese herbal medicine in handling reproductive and metabolic defects simultaneously has been proved by extensive evidence. In this research, the effectiveness and safety of Chinese herbal medicine for obese females with PCOS were examined. ⋯ Open Science Framework (OSF) Preregistration: osf.io/yp86h.
