Diagnosis and management of extramedullary plasmacytoma in nasal cavity: Clinical experience and literature review.
Nasal extramedullary plasmacytoma (EMP) is a rare plasma cell tumor that occurs in the soft tissue of the nasal cavity, and its imaging characteristics are still unclear. The purpose of this study was to investigate the clinical features, imaging findings, treatment, survival analysis, and prognosis of nasal EMP, and to provide a systematic review of the patients we treated and the published literature. A 45-year-old female patient who presented with epistaxis with nasal obstruction was recommended for magnetic resonance imaging to assess the nature of the lesion. ⋯ The absence of dilated features, infiltrative features and the presence of significant contrast enhancement may be relatively specific imaging findings of nasal EMP. The prognosis of nasal EMP is good, and recurrence, metastasis, and transformation into multiple myeloma are rare. Because the lesions are sensitive to radiotherapy, surgical resection combined with radiotherapy is a more effective treatment.

Part I: Background and Clinical Considerations for Stress Fractures in Female Military Recruits.
Stress fractures (SFx) represent a significant proportion of musculoskeletal injuries in military recruits internationally. Incidence rates as high as 40% have been reported, varying by country and branch of military cohorts. Tibial SFx are the most common, followed by other lower extremity sites, and are related to the emphasis on running during training. SFx disproportionately affect female recruits, similarly to a disparity demonstrated in female athletes. ⋯ This review, Part I of a two-part series, provides updated information for multidisciplinary management of SFx in female military recruits. There are many similarities to management in athletes, but unique nuances of the military recruit require specific knowledge to reduce the high incidence rates of injury.

Stress fractures (SFx) represent a significant proportion of injuries in military recruits internationally. Stress fractures disproportionately affect female recruits, a disparity that has similarly been consistently demonstrated in female athletes. Stress fractures result in medical morbidity, financial burden, and medical discharge from military service. This review presents current literature regarding SFx risk factors to identify and/or mitigate in this high-risk population. ⋯ This review, Part II of a two-part series, guides multidisciplinary management of military recruits, especially females, who are at risk for developing SFx. Unique nuances of the military recruit require specific knowledge to reduce high incidence rates of injury internationally.

ReviewBreast and gynecologic cancers as a Brazilian health priority.
Cancer imposes a profound burden on low- and middle-income countries where 65% of the global cancer deaths occurred in 2020. The objective of the present review was to describe female cancer epidemiology in Brazil, barriers to prevention, screening, and treatment, and to propose strategies to a better control. ⋯ Analyzed together, breast and gynecologic cancers correspond to the leading cause of cancer in Brazil. A heterogeneous group, female cancer includes diseases with a high primary and secondary prevention potential. The organization of a female cancer program in Brazil prioritizing primary and secondary prevention strategies, such as adequate mammography screening and human papillomavirus vaccination coverage, could significantly improve female cancer control in the country.

Review Case ReportsAsynchronous Bilateral Ovarian Torsion: A Case Report and Review of Literature.
Ovarian/adnexal torsion is a rare gynaecological emergency presenting with nonspecific signs and symptoms mimicking other causes of acute abdomen. Asynchronous bilateral ovarian torsion is even rarer but has serious implications as it may potentially lead to castration. ⋯ We report a case of a bilateral asynchronous ovarian torsion in a young female that occurred after an interval of 8 years, which was managed by untwisting the pedicle and preserving the ovary. Key Words: Ovarian torsion, Castration, Bilateral, Gynaecological emergency.
