Randomized Controlled TrialModified thoracolumbar Interfascial Plane Block Versus Erector Spinae Plane Block in Patients Undergoing Spine Surgeries: A Randomized Controlled Trial.
Lumbar spine surgery is associated with significant postoperative pain. Interfascial plane blocks, such as erector spinae plane (ESP) and thoracolumbar interfascial plane (TLIP) blocks, can play a significant role in multimodal analgesic regimens. ⋯ Compared with the mTLIP block, the ESP block was associated with lower pain scores and a small decrease in perioperative fentanyl consumption in patients undergoing lumbar spine surgeries. Both blocks could form a part of a multimodal analgesic regimen in spine surgery patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasound-guided Greater Occipital Nerve Block in Children Undergoing Posterior Fossa Craniotomy: A Randomized, Controlled Trial.
Posterior fossa surgery is commonly associated with severe postoperative pain. This study assessed the impact of ultrasound-guided greater occipital nerve (GON) block on postoperative pain and hemodynamic profiles in pediatric posterior fossa craniotomy. ⋯ In children undergoing posterior fossa craniotomy, GON block was associated with superior quality and duration of postoperative analgesia and better hemodynamic profile compared with standard care.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of Multiple Injection Costotransverse Block and Erector Spinae Plane Block for Post-Sternotomy Pain Relief in Pediatric Patients Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Prospective Randomized Comparative Study.
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of ultrasound-guided multiple injection costotransverse block (MICB) and compare it with erector spinae plane block (ESPB) for poststernotomy pain relief in pediatric cardiac surgical patients. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided MICB was effective and comparable to ESPB for post-sternotomy pain management in pediatric cardiac surgical patients.

Randomized Controlled TrialUltrasound-guided intersphincteric space block combined with spinal anesthesia for hemorrhoidectomy: a randomized clinical trial.
We aimed to compare the analgesic effects and incidence of urinary retention between ultrasound-guided intersphincteric space block combined with low-dose ropivacaine spinal anesthesia and conventional-dose ropivacaine spinal anesthesia post-hemorrhoidectomy. ⋯ Ultrasound-guided intersphincteric space block combined with low-dose ropivacaine spinal anesthesia provides good anesthesia and analgesia for hemorrhoidectomy.

Randomized Controlled TrialAdductor canal block techniques do not lead to involvement of sciatic nerve branches: a radiological cadaveric study.
Low and high volume mid-thigh (ie, distal femoral triangle) and distal adductor canal block approaches are frequently applied for knee surgical procedures. Although these techniques aim to contain the injectate within the adductor canal, spillage into the popliteal fossa has been reported. While in theory this could improve analgesia, it might also result in motor blockade due to coverage of motor branches of the sciatic nerve. This radiological cadaveric study, therefore, investigated the incidence of coverage of sciatic nerve divisions after various adductor canal block techniques. ⋯ Adductor canal block techniques are unlikely, even when using larger volumes, to block the sciatic nerve, or its main branches. Furthermore, injectate reached the popliteal fossa in a small minority of cases, yet if a clinical analgesic effect is achieved by this mechanism is still unknown.
