Blood urea nitrogen and clinical prognosis in patients with COVID-19: A retrospective study.
The aim of this study was to estimate the association between blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and clinical prognosis in patients with COVID-19. A multicenter, retrospective study was conducted in adult patients with COVID-19 in 3 hospitals in Zhenjiang from January 2023 to May 2023. Patients were divided into survival and death group based on whether they survived at day 28. ⋯ When the cutoff value of BUN was 7.37 mmol/L, the sensitivity and specificity were 84.62% and 70.31%. Subgroup analysis demonstrated that hyper-BUN (≥7.37 mmol/L) was associated with increased 28-day mortality among COVID-19 patients. Patients with COVID-19 who died within 28 days had a higher level of BUN, and hyper-BUN (≥7.37 mmol/L) was associated with increased 28-day mortality.

Multicenter StudyA clinical decision aid for patients with suspected midfacial and mandibular fractures (the REDUCTION-I study): a prospective multicentre cohort study.
To assess physical examination findings related to maxillofacial trauma to identify patients at risk of midfacial and mandibular fractures and then to construct a clinical decision aid to rule out the presence of midfacial and mandibular fractures in emergency department patients. ⋯ The study was registered at ClinicalTrials.gov with the identifier NCT03314480.

Multicenter Study Observational StudyLung Ultrasound Performed by Primary Care Physicians for Clinically Suspected Community-Acquired Pneumonia: A Multicenter Prospective Study.
We investigated whether lung ultrasound (US) performed in primary care is useful and feasible for diagnosing community-acquired pneumonia (CAP) compared with chest radiography, as most previous research has been conducted in hospital settings. ⋯ Point-of-care lung US in primary care could be useful for investigating suspected CAP (avoiding chest radiography in most cases) and is likely feasible in daily practice, as short training programs appear sufficient and little time is needed to perform the scan.

Multicenter StudyMeasurement properties of ID-PALL, a new instrument for the identification of patients with general and specialized palliative care needs.
To improve access to palliative care, identification of patients in need of general or specialized palliative care is necessary. To our knowledge, no available identification instrument makes this distinction. ID-PALL is a screening instrument developed to differentiate between these patient groups. ⋯ ID-PALL is a promising screening instrument allowing the early identification of patients in need of general or specialized palliative care. It can be used by nurses and physicians without a specialized palliative care training. Further testing of the finalized clinical version appears warranted.

Early chest computed tomography to diagnose COVID-19 from suspected patients: A multicenter retrospective study.
The purpose of this study was to distinguish the imaging features of COVID-19 from those of other infectious pulmonary diseases and evaluate the diagnostic value of chest CT for suspected COVID-19 patients. ⋯ The combinations with GGOs could be useful in the identification and differential diagnosis of COVID-19, alerting clinicians to isolate patients for prompt treatment and repeat RT-PCR tests until the end of incubation.
