The Association of Arterial Blood Pressure Waveform-Derived Area Duty Cycle with Intra-arrest Hemodynamics and Cardiac Arrest Outcomes.
Develop a novel, physiology-based measurement of duty cycle (Arterial Blood Pressure-Area Duty Cycle [ABP-ADC]) and evaluate the association of ABP-ADC with intra-arrest hemodynamics and patient outcomes. ⋯ In this multicenter cohort, a lower ABP-ADC was associated with higher sBPs during CPR. Although ABP-ADC was not associated with outcomes, further studies are needed to define the interactions between CPR mechanics and intra arrest patient physiology.

Multicenter StudyChanges in colorectal cancer incidence in seven high-income countries: a population-based study.
The overall incidence of colorectal cancer is decreasing in many high-income countries, yet analyses in the USA and other high-income countries such as Australia, Canada, and Norway have suggested increasing incidences among adults younger than 50 years. We aimed to examine longitudinal and generational changes in the incidence of colon and rectal cancer in seven high-income countries. ⋯ Canadian Partnership Against Cancer, Cancer Council Victoria, Cancer Institute New South Wales, Cancer Research UK, Danish Cancer Society, National Cancer Registry Ireland, the Cancer Society of New Zealand, NHS England, Norwegian Cancer Society, Public Health Agency Northern Ireland, Scottish Government, Western Australia Department of Health, and Wales Cancer Network.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyArformoterol and salmeterol in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease: a one year evaluation of safety and tolerance.
Concerns have been raised regarding the safety of extended use of long-acting beta2-agonists (LABAs). The safety of arformoterol (50 microg QD), and salmeterol (42 microg BID), was assessed over 12 months in subjects with COPD. The study also examined the occurrence of tolerance with these agents, i.e. whether improvement in airway function diminished or frequency of exacerbations increased with 12-months of use. ⋯ In this trial, both arformoterol 50 microg QD and salmeterol 42 microg BID were well tolerated in patients with COPD. Both LABAs produced effective bronchodilation and their use was not associated with the development of clinically meaningful tolerance over a 1-year treatment period.

B-type natriuretic peptide and renal function in the diagnosis of heart failure: an analysis from the Breathing Not Properly Multinational Study.
Both B-type natriuretic peptide (BNP) and renal function are prognostic indicators of survival in patients with congestive heart failure (CHF). However, relationships between BNP, renal function, and heart failure as an emergency diagnosis are unknown. ⋯ Renal function correlates weakly with BNP and influences the optimal cut point for BNP, particularly in those with an eGFR less than 60 mL/min/1.73 m2.

The influencing factors of choosing future medical specialties among students in Saudi Arabia: A nationwide multicenter survey.
Choosing a future medical speciality is considered one of the most critical challenges for undergraduate students worldwide. The present study assessed the influences and factors related to medical students career choices in Saudi Arabia. The study was designed in a cross-sectional manner to collect data from all undergraduate medical students and interns in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for 5 months, starting from September 2021 and ending in January 2022. ⋯ A student's lower grade point average, the lower average monthly income of their family, lack of working relative in the healthcare field and absence of advice about future specialities are all significant predictors for stopping specialities endeavor. Our study concluded that students career choices depend on different factors, including gender based preferences and that their specialized preferences did not change considerably prior to or after graduation. Further studies are required to analyze the factors influencing student and intern speciality preferences in their early clinical and career years.
