Non-needle acupoint stimulation for prevention of nausea and vomiting after breast surgery: A meta-analysis.
Breast disease has been a global serious health problem, among women. Surgery is the main treatment for the patients suffering from breast disease. Postoperative nausea and vomiting are still disturbing. Acupoint stimulation, an effective treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, has been used to reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting. Recently, non-needle acupoint stimulation becomes a new intervention. Though several clinical trials have been done, there is still no final conclusion on the efficacy. This Meta-Analysis aims at evaluating the efficacy of non-needle acupoint stimulation for prevention of nausea and vomiting after breast surgery. ⋯ Non-needle acupoint stimulation can be used for female patients undergoing breast surgery to reduce postoperative nausea and vomiting. Into consideration, we recommend transcutaneous acupoint electrical stimulation on PC6 from 30 minutes before induction of anesthesia to the end of surgery for application. This non-pharmaceutical approach may be promising to promote the recovery of patients after breast surgery.

Predictors of respiratory failure in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
To systematically review the literature regarding the ability of clinical features to predict respiratory failure in patients with Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS). ⋯ Early identification of GBS patients at risk of respiratory failure could reduce the rates of adverse outcomes associated with delayed intubation. Algorithms that predict a patient's risk of subsequent respiratory failure at hospital admission appear more reliable than individual clinical variables.

Diagnostic value of circulating tumor DNA in molecular characterization of glioma: A meta-analysis.
Circulating tumor DNA (ctDNA) has provided a minimally invasive approach for the detection of genetic mutations in glioma. However, the diagnostic value of ctDNA in glioma remains unclear. This meta-analysis was designed to investigate the diagnostic value of ctDNA, compared with the current "criterion standard" tumor tissues. ⋯ ctDNA analysis is an effective method to detect the genetic mutation status in glioma patients with high specificity and relatively moderate sensitivity. The application of high-throughput technologies, the detection of patients with high-grade glioma, and sampling from cerebrospinal fluid could have higher diagnostic accuracy. The improvement of detection methods and more large-sample case-control studies are required in the future.

Meta AnalysisAssociation of apoE gene polymorphisms with lipid metabolism in renal diseases.
Apolipoprotein E (apoE) plays a central role in the metabolism and homeostasis of lipids. ApoE gene encodes three major isoforms: ε2, ε3 a nd ε4 forming six phenotypes: E2E2, E2E3, E2E4, E3E3, E3E3 and E4E4. Disorders of the lipid metabolism and the homeostasis are frequently coexist in renal diseases. The association between gene polymorphisms of apoE and lipid metabolism were not consistent. This meta-analysis was performed to assess the association between gene polymorphisms of apoE and lipid metabolism in renal diseases. ⋯ ApoE gene polymorphisms are associated with the expression of TC, TG HDL, LDL, Lp(a) or apoE.

High-risk pulmonary embolism (PE) requires hemodynamic and respiratory support along with reperfusion strategies. Recently updated European guidelines assign a low class of recommendation to extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for high-risk PE. This systematic review assessed clinical outcomes after ECMO in high-risk PE. ⋯ Based on currently available literature, it is not possible to draw definite conclusions on the usefulness of ECMO for high-risk PE. Prospective, multicenter, large-scale studies or nationwide registries are needed to best define the role of ECMO for high-risk PE. PROSPERO registration ID: CRD42019136282.
