Review Meta AnalysisThe risk factors for postoperative delirium in adult patients after hip fracture surgery: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Postoperative delirium (POD) is the most common complication in patients after hip fracture surgery, and the incidence of POD is associated with mortality and disability in patients following hip fracture surgery. Therefore, this study aimed to identify the individual as well as anesthetic and operative risk factors associated with the POD in adult patients after hip fracture surgery. ⋯ Patients possessed above risk factors might be high-risk patients. Clinician should maintain keen vigilance at those patients.

ReviewPhysical activity and loneliness among adults aged 50 years or older in six low- and middle-income countries.
Loneliness is widespread and associated with deleterious outcomes in middle-aged and older age people in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). Physical activity is one potential psychosocial strategy with the potential to reduce loneliness in this population. Thus, the aim of this study was to explore associations between physical activity (PA) and loneliness in middle-aged and older people from six LMICs. ⋯ Our data suggest that physical inactivity and loneliness commonly co-occur in adults aged 50 years or older in LMICs overall but that this association differs by country. Longitudinal studies are required to confirm these findings and investigate potential mechanisms that may inform future interventions.

Meta AnalysisNoninvasive brain stimulation for behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Pharmacological and conventional nonpharmacological treatments for behavioural and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) have only modest efficacy. Furthermore, pharmacotherapy carries the risk of important side effects. Noninvasive brain stimulation (repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) or transcranial direct current stimulation (tDCS)) are valuable and safe for cognitive function in Alzheimer disease (AD). However, there have been few studies, and there is no consensus, regarding the use of these techniques to treat BPSD. ⋯ Our results establish a tendency for efficacy of rTMS protocols on BPSD, while corroborating their safety and tolerability, suggesting the need for further research.

ReviewPain assessment and pain treatment for community-dwelling people with dementia: A systematic review and narrative synthesis.
To describe the current literature on pain assessment and pain treatment for community-dwelling people with dementia. ⋯ This review identifies a dearth of high-quality studies exploring pain assessment and/or treatment for community-dwelling people with dementia, not least into non-pharmacological interventions. The consequences of this lack of evidence, given the current and projected prevalence of the disease, are very serious and require urgent redress. In the meantime, clinicians should adopt a patient- and caregiver-centred, multi-dimensional, longitudinal approach to pain assessment and pain treatment for this population.
