Association between coronary dominance pattern and left ventricular mass index; Is there a gender disparity?
Increased left ventricular mass index (LVMI) and left ventricular hypertrophy (LVH) are independent predictors of adverse cardiovascular events. However, little is known regarding the association between coronary circulation and LVMI. We aimed to investigate the association between coronary dominance and LVMI, and to demonstrate the impact of coronary dominance pattern on the emergence of LVH. ⋯ Coronary dominance pattern may significantly affect the LVMI, and it may be useful in the further risk stratification of female patients.

Proposal for a clinical and an echocardiographic score for prediction of left atrial thrombosis in atrial fibrillation patients undergoing early electrical cardioversion.
Left atrial thrombosis (LAT) is usually detected by transesophageal echocardiography (TEE). The aim of the present study was to identify clinical and echocardiographic factors associated with left atrial thrombosis in atrial fibrillation (AF) patients undergoing early electrical cardioversion (ECV) in order to create scores that can predict LAT, in a non-invasive way. ⋯ When providing concordant information the two scores are able to correctly identify patients with or without LAT. An external validation is necessary to demonstrate their usefulness in the clinical practice.

Cribriform glands are associated with worse outcome than other pattern 4 subtypes: A study of prognostic and clinicopathologic characteristics of prostate adenocarcinoma with an emphasis on Grade Groups.
Although prostate adenocarcinoma is the most common cancer in men, survival is quite high and with the help of histopathological examination using the updated classification, patient management strategies are developing. We aimed to evaluate the correlation between the histopathological features and biochemical recurrence (BCR) in patients who underwent radical prostatectomy (RP) using the new classification. ⋯ Histopathological evaluation is important in predicting BCR in prostate adenocarcinoma, the Group Grade system seems to be helpful in this regard. More studies are needed to prove the relatively worse prognostic effect of cribriform glands.

The Impact of Technetium-99m Dimercapto-succinic Acid Scintigraphy on DNA Damage and Oxidative Stress in Children.
Technetium-99m-dimercapto succinic acid (Tc-99m DMSA) scintigraphy is a commonly used imaging modality in children with urological abnormalities. The radiopharmaceuticals, which have the effects of ionising radiation, are used in this method. This study aimed to investigate the impact of the Tc-99m DMSA scan on renal oxidative stress and mononuclear leukocyte (MNL) DNA damage. ⋯ The effect of Tc-99m DMSA scintigraphy is insufficient to create oxidative damage, but it can cause DNA damage via the direct impact of ionising radiation which can be repaired again in a short time.

The relationship between irritability and autism symptoms in children with ASD in COVID-19 home confinement period.
This study investigated the impact of COVID-19 home confinement on autism spectrum disorder (ASD) symptoms and irritability in children and adolescents with ASD. ⋯ These results have alerted us of the importance of focusing on the symptoms such as irritability exhibited by extremely vulnerable populations during disease outbreaks and of the necessity of developing new strategies to avoid such adverse outcomes in similar situations.
