Meta AnalysisEffects of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) supplementation on cortisol, leptin, adiponectin, and liver enzyme levels: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials.
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) supplementation has been investigated in patients with altered cortisol levels and is proposed to ameliorate the metabolic profile related to adipose tissue. However, further research is warranted and evidence is no compelling for liver safety. Hence, we aimed to meta-analyse the effects of DHEA supplementation on circulating levels of cortisol, liver enzymes, and adipokines. ⋯ DHEA supplementation decreased circulating cortisol but did not alter adiponectin, leptin, AST, and ALT levels. Hence, DHEA supplementation could be considered as an adjunct in the management of hypercortisolaemia and is safe for the liver.

Multisystem Inflammatory Syndrome in Children (MISC): a systematic review.
The aim of this systematic review was to analyse current literature and reported cases of multisystem inflammatory syndrome in children (MISC), concerning its clinical spectrum, complications associated, therapeutic strategies and distinguishing features of other clinical syndromes. ⋯ MISC raises concern on its severe cardiac involvement at presentation, with frequent intensive care and immunomodulatory therapy need. Short-term outcomes seem to be favourable, with cardiac dysfunction recovery and low mortality rates.

Meta AnalysisThe Effects of Pharmacological Interventions on Smoking Cessation in People with Alcohol Dependence: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Nine Randomized Controlled Trials.
Pharmacotherapies are widely used for smoking cessation. However, their efficacy for people with alcohol dependence remains unclear. ⋯ Varenicline may promote smoking cessation in people with alcohol dependence. However, Naltrexone, Topiramate and Bupropion have no clear effect on increasing smoking abstinence among drinkers. The small number of studies and the low certainty of evidence indicate that the results should be interpreted cautiously.

Meta AnalysisComparison of efficacy and safety of gabapentin and duloxetine in painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.
In patients with diabetes mellitus, painful diabetic peripheral neuropathy (PDPN) is a frequent complication and can cause poor quality of life. We compared the efficacy and safety of duloxetine with those of gabapentin in patients with PDPN through a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. ⋯ No significant differences were observed in the efficacy of duloxetine and gabapentin when treating patients with PDPN.
