Meta AnalysisEffect of Probiotics Supplementation on Disease Progression, Depression, General Health and Anthropometric Measurements in Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis Patients: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis of Clinical Trials.
Probiotics may have a promising role in chronic autoinflammatory diseases. The current systematic review and meta-analysis investigated the effects of probiotics on disease progression, depression, general health, and anthropometric measurements in Relapsing-Remitting Multiple Sclerosis (RRMS) patients. ⋯ Our findings revealed that probiotics supplementation can improve disease progression, suppress depression, and general health in MS patients; although, further investigations may be needed.

Randomized Controlled TrialComparison of intraoral mask and classic face mask in terms of ventilation success and practitioners' workload assessments: A randomised crossover study.
Providing effective ventilation of the unconscious patient is an essential skill in every specialty dealing with airway management. In this randomised crossover study aimed to compare intraoral and classic face mask in terms of ventilation success of patients, practitioners' workload and anxiety assessments. Also we analysed potential risk factors of difficult mask ventilation for both masks. ⋯ Intraoral mask may be an effective alternative device for bag-valve mask ventilation.

Meta AnalysisEffects of dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) supplementation on cortisol, leptin, adiponectin, and liver enzyme levels: a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized clinical trials.
Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) supplementation has been investigated in patients with altered cortisol levels and is proposed to ameliorate the metabolic profile related to adipose tissue. However, further research is warranted and evidence is no compelling for liver safety. Hence, we aimed to meta-analyse the effects of DHEA supplementation on circulating levels of cortisol, liver enzymes, and adipokines. ⋯ DHEA supplementation decreased circulating cortisol but did not alter adiponectin, leptin, AST, and ALT levels. Hence, DHEA supplementation could be considered as an adjunct in the management of hypercortisolaemia and is safe for the liver.

Meta AnalysisImmediate versus delayed cord clamping in preterm infants: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
To compare and evaluate the efficacy and safety of immediate cord clamping (ICC) and delayed cord clamping (DCC) in preterm infants. We performed a comprehensive and systematic meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials (RCTs) assessing ICC and DCC in preterm infants by searching PUBMED, EMBASE, Science Direct, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, and Wanfang Database (from inception to 30 September 2020). Summary odds ratios or mean differences with 95% confidence intervals were calculated using a fixed- or random-effect model. ⋯ No significant differences were found between ICC and DCC in terms of peak bilirubin level; need for blood transfusion, mechanical ventilation (MV) and phototherapy; duration of MV and phototherapy; and incidences of intraventricular haemorrhage, retinopathy of prematurity, patent ductus arteriosus, respiratory distress syndrome, sepsis, jaundice, polycythaemia, periventricular leukomalacia and bronchopulmonary dysplasia. DCC is a safe, beneficial and feasible intervention for preterm infants. However, rigorously designed and large-scale RCTs are necessary to identify the role and ideal timing of DCC.

Meta AnalysisThe association between psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis with the risk of osteoporosis, osteopenia, and bone fractures: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
The possible association between psoriatic/psoriatic arthritis (PsA) and bone loss has been observed; however, studies have yielded inconclusive results. This meta-analysis aimed to assess whether there is an increase in the risk of osteoporosis, osteopenia and fractures in patients with psoriasis/PsA, compared with healthy individuals. ⋯ Patients with psoriasis/PsA have an increased risk of fractures. There is little evidence supporting the relation of psoriasis to osteoporosis/osteopenia.
