Association of Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) with Disease Activity and Inflammatory Cytokines in the patients with Rheumatoid Arthritis.
This study aimed, at first, to assess Dietary Inflammatory Index (DII) in participants with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and compare them with healthy controls. Then, to evaluate the association of DII with the risk of RA occurrence, the severity of disease, and systemic inflammation. ⋯ An inflammatory diet may act as a potential risk factor contributing to the development of RA and its severity. Therefore, dietary modification with the goal of reducing the DII score could be a beneficial strategy to improve the clinical outcomes in such patients.

Investigation of the Effect of Melatonin Administration on İnflammatory Mediators; MMP-2, TGF-β and VEGF Levels in Rats with Sepsis.
Sepsis causes life-threatening tissue and organ dysfunctions caused by endogenous mediators in response to infection. Melatonin is a powerful endogenous anti-inflammatory agent and effective in reducing cellular damage. This study aimed to evaluate the changes in serum and liver tissue levels of VEGF, TGF-β and MMP-2 in melatonin-treated septic rats. ⋯ MMP-2 levels may have increased because of the prevention of oxidative damage in sepsis, and this may increase the anti-inflammatory effect. Melatonin treatment may have a therapeutic effect against sepsis since it prevents the increase in serum VEGF level. A powerful endogenous antioxidant, may be a promising therapeutic agent on the mortality and morbidity of the disease, because of its lowering effect on serum VEGF, which is a poor prognostic factor in sepsis.

Meta AnalysisThe association between apolipoprotein A-1 plasma level and premature coronary artery disease; a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Apolipoprotein A-1 (Apo A-1) is a constituent of high-density lipoprotein (HDL) and emerging evidences put forward a potential association between Apo A-1 plasma levels and premature coronary artery disease (pCAD). The aim of the present study is to gather relative literature and perform a systematic review and meta-analysis regarding the association between serum ApoA-1 levels and pCAD. ⋯ In conclusion, there seems to be a significant association between the serum levels of ApoA-1 and pCAD. However, all of the included studies had a case-control design and since there is no good quality and prospective cohort studies included, reliability of the current evidence is debatable. Therefore, further well-designed cohort studies are required to assess the impact of serum ApoA-1 reduction on pCAD onset.
