Meta AnalysisRegular arrangement of collecting venules (RAC) as an endoscopic marker for exclusion of Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) infection: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori) is the most common cause of gastric cancer. Growing evidence suggests that the regular arrangement of collecting venules (RAC) can be used as an endoscopic marker to diagnose H. pylori infection. However, data on the diagnostic accuracy of RAC for H. pylori infection are conflicting. We performed a systematic review and meta-analysis of relevant studies to determine the diagnostic accuracy and clinical utility of RAC for the diagnosis of H. pylori infection. ⋯ RAC can be used as an endoscopic marker for exclusion of H. pylori infection. However, it cannot be recommended as a single indicator for the confirmation of H. pylori infection. The conclusion of this study should be treated with caution because significant heterogeneity exists between the evaluated studies.

ReviewAA amyloidosis complicating monoclonal gammopathies, an unusual feature validating the concept of "monoclonal gammopathy of inflammatory significance"?
AL amyloidosis is caused by the proliferation of an immunoglobulin-secreting B cell clone. AA amyloidosis is a rare complication of chronic inflammation. However, some patients present with diseases combining monoclonal immunoglobulin production and chronic inflammation. The aim of this work was to describe cases of AA amyloidosis associated with monoclonal gammopathies. ⋯ Monoclonal gammopathies might be a rare and poorly known cause of AA amyloidosis. Such monoclonal gammopathies could be named "monoclonal gammopathies of inflammatory significance."

ReviewChallenging patient phenotypes in the management of anemia of chronic kidney disease.
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) is often complicated by anaemia, which is associated with disease progression and increased hospital visits, decreased quality of life, and increased mortality. ⋯ Several therapies provide promising opportunities to address gaps with a standard of care, including hypoxia-inducible factor prolyl hydroxylase inhibitors, which stimulate haematopoiesis through promoting modest increases in serum erythropoietin and improved iron homeostasis. The critical issues in the management of anaemia of CKD in these challenging phenotypes and the clinical utility of new therapeutic agents in development for the treatment of anaemia of CKD should be assessed and the information should be made available to healthcare providers.

Randomized Controlled TrialOmega 3-rich Camelina Sativa in the context of a weight loss programs improves glucose homeostasis, inflammation and oxidative stress in NAFLD patients: A randomized placebo-controlled clinical trial.
Over the past few years, the benefits of omega-3 fatty acids have been reported in the management of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) complications.This study evaluated the effects of Camelina sativa oil (CSO) supplementation as one of the richest dietary sources of omega-3 fatty acids on glucose homeostasis,inflammation, metabolic endotoxemia, and oxidative stress in NAFLD patients. ⋯ These findings indicate that CSO may improve glycemia, inflammation, metabolic endotoxemia, and oxidative stress status in patients with NAFLD.

Randomized Controlled TrialDoes Naringenin Supplementation Improve Lipid Profile, Severity of Hepatic Steatosis, and Probability of Liver Fibrosis in Overweight/Obese Patients with NAFLD? A Randomized, Double-Blind, Placebo-Controlled, Clinical Trial.
Naringenin has been reported to have some promising pharmacological effects on the management of obesity and related metabolic complications including non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). Therefore, the present clinical trial study was done to assess the effects of naringenin supplementation on lipid profile, aminotransferase levels, severity of steatosis, as well as probability of fibrosis in overweight/obese patients with NAFLD. ⋯ Our findings revealed that daily intake of 200 mg of naringenin for 4 weeks had beneficial effects on lipid profile and percentages of NAFLD grades as an indicator for the severity of hepatic steatosis. Although, NFS values and serum levels of aminotransferase enzymes including AST and ALT did not remarkably change.
