Meta AnalysisThe correlation of blood pressure variability and cognitive function in hypertension patients: a meta-analysis.
Cognitive impairment (CI) is very common in patients with hypertension. It is necessary to conduct a meta-analysis to evaluate the association between cognitive function and blood pressure variability in patients with hypertension, to provide insights into the clinical management of hypertension and cognitive impairment. ⋯ CI in hypertensive patients is closely associated with increased blood pressure variability. Clinical healthcare providers should pay attention to the management of blood pressure variability in hypertensive patients to reduce the occurrence of CI.

Meta AnalysisSerum LDH values in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and their association with maternal and neonatal morbidity: a meta-analysis.
Serum lactate dehydrogenase has been extensively studied in hypertensive disorders of pregnancy. However, to date, its clinical usefulness in the field remains unknown. The present meta-analysis has been designed to evaluate differences in serum LDH values among patients with hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and to help determine its diagnostic accuracy as well its predictive accuracy in determining adverse pregnancy outcomes. ⋯ Despite the extensive research in the field of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy, there is still lack of evidence concerning the diagnostic performance of serum LDH in clinical practice; hence, research should expand in this direction to evaluate its clinical utility.

Meta AnalysisInvestigation of the clinical efficacy of Zn supplementation in improvement of oxidative stress parameters: A systematic review and dose-response meta-analysis of controlled clinical trials.
Clinical efficacy of zinc (Zn) supplementation in the improvement of oxidative stress biomarkers has been investigated in some clinical trial studies. The purpose of the current dose-response meta-analysis is to systematically aggregate and evaluate all related studies to highlight the possible effect of Zn supplementation on oxidative stress. ⋯ Zn supplementation reduces MDA and Hcys levels, but not TBARS level. Supplementation with Zn <40 mg/day has an optimum effect on MDA level. Zn supplementation could be considered clinically as a beneficial approach in amending oxidative stress.

Meta AnalysisExploration of severe Covid-19 associated risk factor in China: meta-analysis of current evidence.
This meta-analysis aimed to explore potential risk factors for severe Covid-19. ⋯ There are significant differences in clinical characteristics between the severe and non-severe Covid-19 patients. Many factors are related to the severity of the disease, which can help clinicians to differentiate severe patients from non-severe patients.

Meta AnalysisVenous thromboembolism is linked to severity of disease in COVID-19 patients: A systematic literature review and exploratory meta-analysis.
Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) may predispose to venous thromboembolism (VTE) and arterial thromboembolism because of excessive inflammation, hypoxia, immobilisation and diffuse intravascular coagulation. The understanding of the association might be helpful in early vigilant monitoring and better management of COVID-19 patients at high risk. Thus, in this meta-analysis, we aim to assess the association of VTE with the severity of COVID-19 disease. ⋯ Our findings suggest that VTE either deep vein thrombosis or pulmonary embolism may have a negative effect on the health status of COVID-19 patients. This study highlights the need to consider measures for reducing thromboembolism risk amongst COVID-19 patients.
