Multicenter StudyObesity is associated with a greater number of long-term post-COVID symptoms and poor sleep quality: A multicentre case-control study.
Obesity is a risk factor associated with higher mortality at the acute phase of COVID-19; however, its influence on post-COVID symptoms is not known. ⋯ This study found that obesity was associated with a greater number of long-term post-COVID symptoms and poor sleep quality in hospitalised COVID-19 patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Controlled Clinical TrialGender, age, disease severity, body mass index, and diabetes may not affect response to subcutaneous tanezumab in patients with osteoarthritis after 16 weeks of treatment. A subgroup analysis of placebo-controlled trials.
To assess the impact of pre-specified patient characteristics on efficacy and safety of subcutaneous tanezumab in patients with osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ Efficacy and safety/tolerability of tanezumab may not be meaningfully impacted by gender, age, BMI, diabetes status, baseline pain severity or KL grade in the index joint. Conclusions are limited by low patient number in some subgroups. Clinicaltrials.gov: NCT02697773, NCT02709486, NCT01089725.

Multicenter StudySafety and efficacy of alirocumab in real life setting: analysis of the Belgian cohort of the ODYSSEY APPRISE trial with review of current lipid treatment guidelines and its implementation in clinical practice.
As lipid targets became more stringent in the latest ESC/EAS guidelines, many patients on statin monotherapy are left above their risk-based target, increasing the need for lipid-lowering therapies. The results of the ODYSSEY APPRISE study were recently published by Gaudet et al In this trial, alirocumab (a PCSK9 inhibitor) was investigated in high cardiovascular risk patients in a real-life setting. ⋯ In a real-life setting, alirocumab is both well-tolerated, safe and very effective in reducing LDL-c in this Belgian cohort. In clinical practice, more patients should be initiated on the add-on, non-statin lipid-lowering therapy in order to reach their risk-based lipid target.

Multicenter StudyClinical-Epidemiological and Radiological Characteristics of Stroke Patients: A Multicenter Study.
Stroke is the leading cause of disability in adults and the second most common cause of death, at a rate of 11.8% worldwide. The purpose of this study was to examine the aetiological, demographic, and clinical characteristics of patients admitted to hospital because of acute strokes. ⋯ Current and accurate evaluations of stroke aetiology are essential for stroke prevention and treatment planning. This study, shows that no change occurred in the aetiology of stroke and epidemiological characteristics and that accurate identification of modifiable stroke risk factors is still a major goal.

Multicenter StudyGamma-glutamyl-transferase may predict COVID-19 outcomes in hospitalized patients.
In this study, we aimed to define the predictive role of liver function tests at admission to the hospital in outcomes of hospitalised patients with COVID-19. ⋯ In conclusion, in hospitalised patients with COVID-19, laboratory data on admission, including serum, creatinine, GGT and d-dimer levels have an important predictive role for the ICU requirement and mortality. Since these tests are readily available in all hospitals and inexpensive, some predictive formulas may be calculated with these parameters at admission, to define the patients requiring intensive care.
