Meta AnalysisEffects of Garlic Extract on Lipid Profile in Patients with Coronary Artery Disease: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis of Randomized Clinical Trials.
This meta-analysis was conducted to evaluate the effects of garlic extract on total cholesterol (TC), triglycerides (TG), low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-c) and high-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (HDL-c), among the patients with coronary artery disease (CAD). Literature searches were conducted in EMBASE, Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science and Cochrane Library until Sep18th, 2020. Inter-study heterogeneity was examined using Cochrane's Q and I2 tests. ⋯ Significant heterogeneity was observed for HDL-c (I2 = 76.8%). However, the findings of sensitivity analysis revealed that upon exclusion of the potential heterogeneity source, the pooled WMD on HDL-c levels were stable. Garlic supplementation may result in a decrease in TC, but will not affect TG, HDL-c and LDL-c levels among CAD patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter Study Controlled Clinical TrialGender, age, disease severity, body mass index, and diabetes may not affect response to subcutaneous tanezumab in patients with osteoarthritis after 16 weeks of treatment. A subgroup analysis of placebo-controlled trials.
To assess the impact of pre-specified patient characteristics on efficacy and safety of subcutaneous tanezumab in patients with osteoarthritis (OA). ⋯ Efficacy and safety/tolerability of tanezumab may not be meaningfully impacted by gender, age, BMI, diabetes status, baseline pain severity or KL grade in the index joint. Conclusions are limited by low patient number in some subgroups. Clinicaltrials.gov: NCT02697773, NCT02709486, NCT01089725.

Review Meta AnalysisImpact on ovarian reserve after minimally invasive single-port laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy in patients with benign ovarian cysts: A systematic review and meta-analysis.
The purpose of this article is to review the published literature on single-port laparoscopic (SPL) ovarian cystectomy and to assess whether the reduced port number affects the ovarian reserve in comparison with the conventional multiport laparoscopic (MPL) ovarian cystectomy. ⋯ SPL cystectomy may be offered as a minimally invasive surgical alternative for patients who want to preserve their fertility, at the cost of higher blood loss and longer operative time.

Multicenter StudyThe Impact of J-CTO Score on In-stent Chronic Total Occlusion Percutaneous Coronary Intervention.
The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of J-CTO (Multicenter Chronic Total Occlusion Registry of Japan) score on in-stent chronic total occlusion (IS-CTO) percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). ⋯ J-CTO score system is not a helpful tool to predict the technical success of difficult IS-CTO PCI via antegrade approach, nor does it correlate with long-term outcomes in patients undergoing IS-CTO PCI. Nevertheless, factors associated with technical failure include proximal bending of ≥30 degrees, under expansion of ≥10 mm, moderate or severe tortuosity (bending) ≥20 and poor distal target. Long-term DAPT therapy contributes significantly to decreased MACE.

Observational StudyThe safety profile of biologic agents in comparison with non-biologic systemic agents, and topical compounds in the management of psoriasis - a 30-month prospective, observational cohort study.
Although biologic agents (BAs) are very effective, solid data proving they are safer than other therapies in psoriasis are still lacking. ⋯ While BAs were the most effective therapies, they were associated with higher rates of treatment discontinuation and adverse events in comparison with other forms of therapy.
