Multicenter StudyGamma-glutamyl-transferase may predict COVID-19 outcomes in hospitalized patients.
In this study, we aimed to define the predictive role of liver function tests at admission to the hospital in outcomes of hospitalised patients with COVID-19. ⋯ In conclusion, in hospitalised patients with COVID-19, laboratory data on admission, including serum, creatinine, GGT and d-dimer levels have an important predictive role for the ICU requirement and mortality. Since these tests are readily available in all hospitals and inexpensive, some predictive formulas may be calculated with these parameters at admission, to define the patients requiring intensive care.

Analysis of continuous glucose tracking data in people with Type 1 Diabetes (T1DM) after Covid-19 Vaccination reveals unexpected link between immune and metabolic response, augmented by adjunctive oral medication.
The COVID-19 vaccination programme is under way worldwide. Anecdotal evidence is increasing that some people with type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) experience temporary instability of blood glucose (BG) levels post-vaccination which normally settles within 2-3 days. We report an analysis of BG profiles of 20 individuals before/after vaccination. ⋯ In T1DM, we have shown that COVID-19 vaccination can cause temporary perturbation of BG, with this effect more pronounced in patients talking oral hypoglycaemic medication plus insulin, and in older individuals. This may also have consequences for patients with T2DM who are currently not supported by flash glucose monitoring.

Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) during Endobronchial Ultrasound Bronchoscopy (EBUS) in the Diagnosis of Granulomatous Diseases.
We aimed to evaluate the role of Rapid On-Site Evaluation (ROSE) in improving the diagnostic contribution of EBUS-guided transbronchial needle aspiration (EBUS-TBNA) in the diagnosis of granulomatous lymphadenitis. ⋯ We found a high incidence of congruence between ROSE and the final cytological diagnosis if granulomas were identified in the final cytology. Performing ROSE shortens the duration of the procedure and reduced sampling thus preventing complications that may occur due to prolongation of the procedure.

Association of antihypertensives during hospitalization with acute respiratory failure in patients with viral pneumonia: A population-based case-control study.
We aimed to identify associations between the risk of acute respiratory failure (ARF) and types of antihypertensive agents in patients with viral pneumonia. ⋯ Patients with viral pneumonia who received α-blockers, β-blockers, thiazides or angiotensin receptor blockers during hospitalisation had a lower risk of developing ARF.

Primary primitive neuroectodermal tumor of the kidney in adults: experience of managing 12 cases with systematic review and pooled analysis of literature.
Primitive neuroectodermal tumor (PNET) of the kidney is unusual in adults. These tumours are diagnosed mainly on histopathology and that too sometimes has limitations. With this study, we aimed to review our clinical and histopathological data of patients with renal PNET and reviewing the world literature. ⋯ PNET remains a pathological diagnosis and IHC has important place in diagnosis of PNET. Locally advanced and metastatic disease is common at diagnosis leading to overall poor survival.
