Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of anesthetic maintenance and recovery with propofol versus sevoflurane combined with remifentanil in craniotomy for supratentorial neoplasm].
To compare the effectiveness of propofol versus sevoflurane associated with remifentanil on the maintenance of anesthesia and on recovery in patients undergoing elective supratentorial craniotomy. ⋯ Combining remifentanil with propofol or with sevoflurane provides satisfactory anesthesia during elective supratentorial craniotomy to remove a brain neoplasm. Hemodynamic stability is appropriate and recovery from anesthesia is rapid.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Comparison of 2 techniques for combined spinal-epidural analgesia for advanced labor in childbirth].
To assess whether using a needle-locking device in combined spinal-epidural analgesia leads to better quality of pain relief for advanced stages of obstetric labor than can be achieved with conventional materials. ⋯ The use of devices specifically designed for administering combined spinal-epidural analgesia in advanced stages of labor provides faster pain relief, longer duration of analgesia, and greater maternal satisfaction without increasing the incidence of complications.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Low-dose 0.25% spinal levobupivacaine with epidural extension for cesarean section: comparison with 0.5% hyperbaric bupivacaine].
When low doses of local anesthetic are used in combined spinal-epidural anesthesia for cesarean section, an epidural catheter can be used to enhance a possibly incomplete block or insufficient dose. ⋯ The use of low doses of levobupivacaine with an opiate in combination with volume extension through an epidural catheter in the context of combined spinal-epidural anesthesia is a safe, effective technique that may allow the doses and motor block to be reduced when hyperbaric levobupivacaine is administered, without adverse events for patients.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Intradural ropivacaine for cesarean section: choosing the appropriate dose].
The trend in spinal administration of local anesthetics is to use small doses. The aim of this study was to compare 2 minimum doses of ropivacaine administered by intradural infusion for cesarean section. ⋯ There was greater need for a supplementary dose of local anesthetic and a lower incidence of hypotension in the ROP 0.75% group. The level of anesthesia was satisfactory for all patients in the ROP 1% group but the incidence of hypotension was higher.

Randomized Controlled Trial Comparative Study[Metabolic and immune response to spinal vs intravenous morphine for analgesia after radical prostatectomy].
To study differences between the endocrine-metabolic and immune cell responses to spinal or intravenous administration of morphine for analgesia after radical prostatectomy. ⋯ Patients who received morphine by spinal infusion had a less marked endocrine-metabolic response. Although local cell responses were similar in the 2 groups, the response in peripheral blood was different, possibly reflecting different mechanisms of central modulation of the inflammatory response to stress.
