Preliminary clinical results of coated porous tibia cones in septic and aseptic revision knee arthroplasty.
To analyze the first results of calcium-phosphate-coated porous tibia cones. ⋯ This study shows the initial clinical results of calcium-phosphate-coated tibia cones showing a good functional outcome. Further research should focus on long-term clinical and radiological follow-up.

Lisfranc injuries are a dislocation of the metatarsal bones from the tarsal bone. Although closed reduction is possible in most cases of Lisfranc injury when attempted in the early stage, there are some rare cases for which open reduction is required. Herein we report a case of irreducible Lisfranc injury in a 34-year-old man who presented to our institution with painful swelling. ⋯ Our report is valuable in that it can contribute to the diagnosis and suggest a clue to the treatment of such a rare pathology. The knowledge in the rare case of entrapment of the tibialis tendon and the understanding of management will be useful when a irreducible Lisfranc dislocation is unsuccessful after an attempt at closed reduction.

An important aim of high tibial osteotomy (HTO) is to prevent or delay the need for total knee replacement (TKR). We sought to estimate the frequency and timing of conversion from HTO to TKR and the factors associated with it. ⋯ We found that 79% of knees did not undergo TKR within 10 years after undergoing medial opening wedge HTO. The strongest predictor of conversion to TKR is greater radiographic disease at the time of HTO.

Randomized Controlled Trial
Was femoral nerve block effective for pain control of medial opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy?: A single blinded randomized controlled study.
Medial compartment femoro-tibial osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease and opening-wedge high tibial osteotomy (OWHTO) is the common surgical procedure carried out for these patients. While most researchers are focusing on the surgical techniques during operation, the aim of this study is to evaluate the pain control effect of femoral nerve block (FNB) for OWHTO patients. ⋯ This RCT study shows that FNB in patients undergoing OWHTO for unicompartmental osteoarthritis of the knee could result in significant reduction in VAS scores at 12 hours postoperatively.Research registry, Researchregistry4792. The purpose of this study was to investigate the correction error associated with soft tissue balance in high tibial osteotomy (HTO) and the difference between opening wedge HTO (OWHTO) and closed wedge HTO (CWHTO). ⋯ A significant decrease of the JLCA occurred immediately after osteotomy under anesthesia in CWHTO, whereas in OWHTO there was no decrease under anesthesia, but it decreased several days postoperatively.
