Failure analysis of infection persistence after septic revision surgery: a checklist algorithm for risk factors in knee and hip arthroplasty.
Several studies describe risk factors for primary periprosthetic joint infection (PJI) and general treatment outcome factors like microbe spectrum or patient-specific risk factors. However, these general and patient dependent findings cannot solely explain all cases of infection persistence after a prior septic revision. This study analyzes possible specific and patient independent reasons for failure after revisions for PJI in knee and hip arthroplasty. ⋯ In the majority of failed revisions with subsequent infection persistence at least one possible patient independent failure cause could be identified. The entire previous therapy should be critically reviewed following failing revisions to optimize the outcome of septic revisions. By using a checklist algorithm, high rates of infection freedom were achieved.

The current circumstances cause by the COVID-19 force primary care doctors to find out new ways to guarantee the health care of our type 2 diabetes patients. There is evidence that supports the remote consultation efficacy in the glycemic control in patients with type 2 diabetes. Facing the rapid adaptation of clinical practice to the remote consultation use, from de Diabetes Group of the Spanish Society of Family and Community Medicine (SemFyC), we have prepared a document embodied in a telematic action / monitoring algorithm in the care of patients with type 2 diabetes.

To annotate a corpus of randomized controlled trial (RCT) publications with the checklist items of CONSORT reporting guidelines and using the corpus to develop text mining methods for RCT appraisal. ⋯ Our annotated corpus, CONSORT-TM, contains more fine-grained information than earlier RCT corpora. Low frequency of some CONSORT items made it difficult to train effective text mining models to recognize them. For the items commonly reported, CONSORT-TM can serve as a testbed for text mining methods that assess RCT transparency, rigor, and reliability, and support methods for peer review and authoring assistance. Minor modifications to the annotation scheme and a larger corpus could facilitate improved text mining models. CONSORT-TM is publicly available at https://github.com/kilicogluh/CONSORT-TM.

Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation-related complications are potentially catastrophic if not addressed quickly. Because complications are rare, high-fidelity simulation is recommended as part of the training regimen for extracorporeal membrane oxygenation specialists. We hypothesized that the use of standardized checklists would improve team performance during simulated extracorporeal membrane oxygenation emergencies.

Symptom Checklist-90 (SCL-90) is the popular and widely used instrument, whether in mental health screening, psychological consultation, or the diagnosis and estimate of mental illness. In 1984, it was translated from theEnglish version into Chinese and then SCL-90 has been widely used in China. ⋯ We analyzed the Chinese version of the 90-item text from 3 new perspectives: translation, semantic, and cross-cultural, and thought that 18 items should be revised. This study' results have taken one step forward on the basis of previous studies, which will play an important role in improving the quality of Chinese version SCL-90 and improving the mental health level of Chinese people.
