The evidence for the treatment of connective tissue disease-associated pulmonary arterial hypertension (CTD-PAH) mostly depends on subgroup or post hoc analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs). Thus, we performed a meta-analysis of RCTs that reported outcomes for CTD-PAH. PubMed and EMBASE were searched for CTD-PAH treatment. ⋯ The short-term survival rates and mean serum NT-proBNP changes were similar between the study and control groups. Treatment for CTD-PAH had favorable effects on clinical and hemodynamic outcomes but not on survival and NT-proBNP levels. Different from the previous meta-analyses that focused on 6-MWD, time to clinical worsening, and CW as outcomes, this meta-analysis additionally reports the pooled analysis of change in FC, hemodynamic measurements (RAP, PVR, CI), and NT-proBNP, some of which have prognostic value for PAH.

Recurrence rates following treatment of spinal vascular malformations: a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Spinal vascular malformations (SVMs), including arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) and arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs), are a varied group of vascular lesions that can be subclassified according to localization, vascular structure, and hemodynamics. Early intervention is necessary to halt progression of disease and minimize irreversible dysfunction. We sought to characterize initial treatment success and recurrence rates following interventional treatment of various types of SVMs. ⋯ Surgical resection of SVMs provided higher rates of initial complete occlusion and lower rates of recurrence than endovascular techniques. Attaining technical success through obliteration must still be weighed against clinical impact and natural history of the specific vascular malformation.

Meta AnalysisMortality and its risk factors in critically ill patients with connective tissue diseases: A meta-analysis.
Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), primary Sjögren's syndrome (pSS), systemic sclerosis (SSc), idiopathic inflammatory myopathies (IIM) and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) are connective tissue diseases (CTD) whose complications can lead to management in the intensive care unit (ICU). ⋯ The overall pooled proportion of mortality of ICU patients with CTD was 33% (95%CI: 28-38%), with a high heterogeneity (I2= 89%). In the subgroup analysis, mortality was higher for patients with IIM and SSc.

Comparative diagnostic efficacy of serum Krebs von den Lungen-6 and surfactant D for connective tissue disease-associated interstitial lung diseases: A meta-analysis.
The aim of the study was to estimate and compare the diagnostic accuracy of serum Krebs von den Lungen-6 (KL-6) and surfactant protein D (SP-D) for identifying interstitial lung disease (ILD) from non-ILD among connective tissue disease (CTD) patients. ⋯ This meta-analysis suggested that serum KL-6 had superior diagnostic accuracy to SP-D for differentiating ILD from non-ILD among CTD patients, providing a convenient and non-invasive approach for screening and management of ILD among CTD patients.
