Development and validation of a rapid-decision pathway to diagnose malnutrition in patients with lung cancer.
Malnutrition is frequently developed and outcome-related in patients with lung cancer (LC). Making a rapid and accurate diagnosis of malnutrition is the major concern for dietitians and clinicians. ⋯ This study presents a rapid-decision pathway, including a set of tools that can be conveniently used to facilitate the diagnosis and severity grading of malnutrition in patients with LC.

Prevalence of malnutrition comparing NRS2002, MUST, and PG-SGA with the GLIM criteria in adults with cancer: A multi-center study.
This study aimed to evaluate the diagnostic capacity of the Nutritional Risk Screening 2002 (NRS2002), Malnutrition Universal Screening Tool (MUST), and Patient-generated Subjective Global Assessment (PG-SGA) in light of the Global Leader Initiative on Malnutrition (GLIM) criteria in adult patients with cancer. ⋯ The NRS2002 was better correlated with the GLIM diagnostic criteria of malnutrition than the MUST. The PG-SGA was too sensitive to detect nutrition-related deteriorations, leading to a low positive predictive value in the malnutrition diagnosis. Thus, the GLIM criteria could be used to confirm the presence of malnutrition identified by the PG-SGA in adults with cancer.

An evaluation of urine and serum iodine status in the population of Tibet, China: No longer an iodine-deficient region.
Iodine is a critical trace element for the synthesis of thyroid-related hormones, and either low or high iodine status can lead to thyroid dysfunction. This study aimed to evaluate the iodine status of the Tibetan population. ⋯ This multicenter cross-sectional study found that the human iodine status of adults in Tibet was considered adequate, based on the World Health Organization's criteria.

The Controlling Nutritional Status score as a functional prognostic marker in patients with acute stroke: A multicenter retrospective cohort study.
The aim of this study was to assess whether undernutrition on hospital admission, as evaluated by the Controlling Nutritional Status (CONUT) score, has an effect on the improvement in functional and cognitive activities of daily living (ADL) in adult patients with acute stroke. ⋯ Undernutrition as determined by the CONUT score on admission was an independent predictor of poor motor FIM gain in adult patients with acute stroke. It was not an independent predictor for poor cognitive FIM gain.

Influence of chemoradiotherapy on nutritional status in locally advanced rectal cancer: Prospective multicenter study.
The aim of this study was to investigate the influence of chemoradiotherapy (CRT) on nutritional status and the association between changes in nutritional status and clinical outcomes (treatment completion, adverse events, perioperative complications, and relapse-free survival [RFS]) in patients with locally advanced rectal cancer (LARC). ⋯ These findings suggest that malnutrition and changes in nutritional status are not only commonly observed after CRT, but also associated with treatment completion and adverse events.
