Utility of interactive videogame in allaying preoperative anxiety in pediatric surgical patients - A randomized controlled study.
Non-pharmacological distraction using video games (VG) is still under-explored in pediatric surgical patients. ⋯ VG-based distraction effectively reduced preoperative anxiety in children undergoing elective surgeries.

Randomized Controlled TrialEffect of Ciprofol on Left Ventricular Myocardial Strain and Myocardial Work in Children Undergoing Cardiac Surgery: A Single-center Double-blind Randomized Noninferiority Study.
The current work was designed to compare the effects of ciprofol and propofol on left ventricular systolic function and myocardial work by noninvasive speckle-tracking echocardiography in children undergoing surgical repair of atrial septal or ventricular septal defects. ⋯ Ciprofol did not show different effects on myocardial function and postoperative outcomes from propofol. Further, on the sensitive cardiac systole marker global longitudinal strain, ciprofol demonstrated noninferiority to propofol. Ciprofol might be an alternative solution for cardiac anesthesia in children with congestive heart disease with mild lesion.

Safety and efficacy of a novel dexmedetomidine nasal spray for pre-anesthetic sedation in children: a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial.
Off-label intranasal administration of injectable dexmedetomidine has been widely applied in the pediatric sedation setting. However, the development of an improved drug delivery system that is easy to use is needed. We developed a novel dexmedetomidine nasal spray that can be administered directly without dilution or configuration for pediatric pre-anesthetic sedation. This nasal spray has a fixed dose and is stable during storage. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first licensed nasal spray preparation of dexmedetomidine worldwide. ⋯ This novel dexmedetomidine nasal spray presented effective pre-anesthetic sedation in children with a tolerable safety profile.

Effect of Remimazolam on Emergence Delirium in Children Undergoing Laparoscopic Surgery: A Double-Blinded Randomized Trial.
Preventing emergence delirium is a clinical goal for pediatric anesthesia, yet there is no consensus on its prevention. This study investigated the hypothesis that a continuous infusion or a single bolus of remimazolam can reduce the incidence of emergence delirium in children. ⋯ Both continuous infusion and single bolus administration of remimazolam can effectively reduce the occurrence of emergence delirium in children.

Randomized Controlled Trial Multicenter StudyProtocol for the Prone and Oscillation Pediatric Clinical Trial (PROSpect).
Respiratory management for pediatric acute respiratory distress syndrome (PARDS) remains largely supportive without data to support one approach over another, including supine versus prone positioning (PP) and conventional mechanical ventilation (CMV) versus high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (HFOV). ⋯ PROSpect will provide clinicians with data to inform the practice of PP and HFOV in PARDS.
