Selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors as adjuncts for postoperative pain management: systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials.
Postoperative adjunct use of serotonin-norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) shows a small beneficial effect to reduce acute & chronic post-operative pain and opioid consumption.

Meta AnalysisHuman blood metabolites and risk of sepsis: A Mendelian randomization investigation.
Evidence supports the observational correlations between human blood metabolites and sepsis. However, whether these associations represent a causal relationship is unknown. In this study, we applied two-sample Mendelian randomization (MR) analyses to examine causality between genetically proxied 486 blood metabolites and sepsis risk. ⋯ These findings indicated that four blood metabolites have a protective impact on sepsis, thus providing novel perspectives into the metabolite-mediated development mechanism of sepsis by combining genomics and metabolomics.

Resistance Training and Mortality Risk: A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis.
This study aimed to systematically review and meta-analyze the relationship between resistance training and all-cause, cardiovascular disease, and cancer mortality. ⋯ This systematic review and meta-analysis provides the strongest evidence to date that resistance training is associated with reduced risk of all-cause, cardiovascular disease, and cancer-specific mortality. More research is needed to determine whether any potential mortality benefits gained from resistance training diminish at higher volumes.

Duration of analgesic effectiveness after the posterior and lateral transversus abdominis plane block techniques for transverse lower abdominal incisions: a meta-analysis.
Posterior transversus abdominis plane block continues to reduce pain scores and opioid consumption at up to 48 hours, though with lesser magnitude.

Newcomer adjustment during organizational socialization: a meta-analytic review of antecedents, outcomes, and methods.
The authors tested a model of antecedents and outcomes of newcomer adjustment using 70 unique samples of newcomers with meta-analytic and path modeling techniques. Specifically, they proposed and tested a model in which adjustment (role clarity, self-efficacy, and social acceptance) mediated the effects of organizational socialization tactics and information seeking on socialization outcomes (job satisfaction, organizational commitment, job performance, intentions to remain, and turnover). ⋯ In addition, the authors examined the moderating effects of methodology on these relationships by coding for 3 methodological issues: data collection type (longitudinal vs. cross-sectional), sample characteristics (school-to-work vs. work-to-work transitions), and measurement of the antecedents (facet vs. composite measurement). Discussion focuses on the implications of the findings and suggestions for future research.
